happy holidays part 1

this weekend we celebrated our christmas holiday. since we are in the restaurant industry, we dont get many holidays off... but we always make the best of it. bunny still hadnt done any of his shopping for me, so he and our friend mike went out in the crazy rain to shop at the mall. i invited my friend danielle and her son michael over for dinner, some christmas baking and movie watching, we didnt make it to the movie watching part.

i made a roasted chicken and pizza for dinner. kinda a buffet type deal. after dinner the boys went into the living room to play video games and danielle and i got to our baking.

i planned on making snicker doodles and cinnamon rolls. when it comes to baking, im a novice, so i try to stick to things that are fairly easy. i normally try to stay away from things that include yeast... but this recipe looked easy, so i thought id give it a try. everything was going fine, untill it was time to roll out the dough... i didnt add nearly enough flower to roll out the dough and added way to much butter... and this is what happened!

we decided to roll it up into one huge bun and bake it just to see what happens

a huge doughy bun mess,

the twists that danielle made were not as easy peasy as she would have thought either. the first batch came out great, but by the second batch, because of all of the laughing at me she did, she waited to long to get the dough into the oven, and they came out flat, good but flat.

by the end of our baking fiasco, it was close to midnight! we were all exhausted! now danielle and i have a saying... looks can be deceiving! just because something doesnt look exactly like you thought, doesnt mean it doesnt taste good! hahha!
